반복된 상황에서 발생된 방식, 특정한 조건을 통과하며 정착된 판단, 그리고 누군가에게 작동했던 기술. 개인은 각자의 삶 안에서 이러한 반복을 수행하며, 그 반복은 결과적으로 ‘차이’를 만들어낸다. 그러나 그렇게 생성된 개인의 차이들은 시간의 흐름에 분해되고, 다시 결합되어 사회의 일반론으로 정착된다.

이 과정 속에서 몇몇 차이들은 ‘일반적이지 않다’는 기준 아래 배제되며, 그 차이를 가진 이들은 사회의 괴리감을 경험하게 된다. 이 괴리감은 단순한
불일치가 아니라, 자동화된 반복의 흐름 속에서 발생한 중요한 감각이다. 이는 일시적이거나 ‘나의 차이를 자각하게 하는 흔들림’이며, 정체성을 사유하게 만드는 단서로 작용한다.

여기서 반복이라 함은 특수한 목적 없이, 단지 하나의 행위를 되풀이하는 일이다.
주입식 기계처럼 작동하는 이 반복은 결과물을 일정하게 재현해야 하지만, 실제로는 매번 완전히 동일하지 않다. 그 차이는 때로는 나에게서 비롯되기도 하고, 때로는 타인의 영향으로 발생하기도 한다. 특히 오늘날의 사회에서는 타인의 반복이 너무도 광범위하게 축적되어 하나의 틀이 되었고, 그 틀은 곧 ‘정상성’ 형태로 작동한다.

그 안에서 나와 타인은 나로부터 기인한 것인지, 혹은 타인의 반복에서 생성된 왜곡된 차이인지를 구분하기 어렵다. 우리는 그 사이에서 혼란을 느끼며, 정체성의 실체를 명확히 인식하기 어려워진다.
이번 전시는 이러한 혼돈 속에서 ‘나’의 반복을 다시 들여다보려는 시도다. 사회의 일반론, 즉 타인에 의해 형성된 차이의 구조를 잠시 유보한 채, 스스로의 반복 속에서 생겨난 미세한 차이를 관찰하려 한다. 작업물은 하나의 공장을 상상하며 제작되었고, 그 공장은 다량 생산이 아닌, 개인의 반복을 통해 생성된 유일한 편차를 담는다.

이러한 시도는 ‘반복의 정적’ 속에 균열을 내미는 ‘나의 차이’이며, 사회의 반복적 구조에 미세한 균열을 내는 작은 출구이기도 하다.

The exhibition begins from the recognition that repetition within everyday life inevitably produces difference. Individuals form judgments and habits by passing through recurring situations, and such accumulated repetitions shape unique ways of being. Yet over time, these individual differences are dissolved and reabsorbed into broader social norms. In this process, some forms of difference are excluded under the category of the “non-standard,” creating a sense of dissonance for those who embody them. This dissonance is not merely discomfort; it is a crucial moment in which one becomes aware of one’s own difference and reconsiders identity.

Repetition here refers to an action performed without particular purpose, like a mechanical operation. Though it aims to produce uniform results, it never fully replicates the same outcome. The variations that emerge come from both the self and from others. In contemporary society, the repetitions of others have accumulated so extensively that they form the template of what is considered “normal.” Within this, it becomes difficult to discern whether one’s own difference originates internally or is shaped by external norms, leading to confusion in perceiving identity.

This exhibition attempts to pause the influence of socially codified repetition and to reexamine the subtle variations generated through one’s own repetitive acts. The works imagine a kind of factory, not for mass production, but for producing singular deviations through personal repetition. Such deviations represent the emergence of the self within the static field of repetition, opening a small fissure in the larger repetitive structure of society.
