아에온 플로라 : 죽음 없는 시간에 대한 꽃의 응답

인간은 오랫동안 살실과 죽음이 없는 완벽한 이상향, 변화가 없는 고정된 영원의 낙원을 갈망해왔습니다. 하지만 모든 것이 멈춰버린 세계는 과연 살아 숨 쉬는 세계일까요.

AEON FLORA (永劫花, 에이온・フローラ)에서 아에온 AEON은 단순히 영원을 뜻하지 않습니다. 그것은 인간의 시간이 닿지 않는, 끝없이 지속되는 시간을 의미합니다. 영겁은 영원만 연상할 익숙한 듯하지만, 동시에 어디에도 도착하지 못한 오십세계입니다. 놀랍게도 우리는 그 고요한 불변의 시간과 속에서, 완전함을 뒤로한 채 끊임없이 생명의 맥박을 찾아 고개를 돌립니다.

정은지, 김현아 두 작가가 선보이는 영원성에 대한 인식의 전환은 애니메이션 《에이온 플로라》의 서사와 연꽃(Nelumbo nucifera)의 꽃잎을 통해 하나로 연결됩니다. 이번 전시에서 영원의 동력이던 두 존재 — 영겁을 심는 정원과 영생을 상징하던 연꽃 — 은 역설적이기도 오랜 세월 침체했던 영원성을 해체합니다. 꽃은 시들며 죽음을 맞이하고, 그 죽음은 또 다른 생명을 잉태합니다. 삶과 죽음이 무한히 회귀할 때 비로소 진정한 생명의 시간이 흘러가 듯, 새롭게 태어나는 변화의 과정 자체가 아에온의 본질임을 말합니다.

변하지 않는 것은 아름답지 않습니다. 아름다움은 변화하는 속성 안에서 피어나며, 우리는 그 흔들림 속에서 끊임없이 질문하고 의심할 때 스스로 존재함 BEING 을 증명해냅니다.

무엇이 되어야 할 필요가 없는.
우리는 끝나지 않은 삶을 선택하는 대신 변할 수 있는 삶을 선택합니다.

영원성이 주는 환상에서 껍질을 깨고 나와, 새롭게 열리는 자신만의 AEON을 맞이할 시간입니다. 어쩌면 우리에게 필요한 건 변화를 진정으로 마주하는 용기입니다.

AEON FLORA : A Floral Response to Infinity

For centuries, humanity has imagined a perfect paradise untouched by loss or death — a realm of immutable eternity where nothing ever changes. Yet if everything were to cease changing, could such a world still be alive?
In AEON FLORA (永劫花), the word Aeon signifies more than eternity. It refers to a duration that lies beyond the reach of human time: a boundless continuum that neither begins nor ends. While such eternal time appears to promise absolute repose, it is equally a vast greenhouse of suspension, a place that never truly arrives anywhere. Paradoxically, within this silent and unchanging landscape, we find ourselves turning away from perfection in search of life's pulse.

The exhibition brings together the perspectives of artists KIM HYUN AH, JUNG EUNJI, weaving the narrative of the animated work AEON FLORA with the symbolic presence of the lotus (Nelumbo nucifera). Here, two figures traditionally associated with eternity are reimagined. Rather than preserving permanence, they gently unravel it. Flowers inevitably wither, embrace death, and in doing so become the ground from which new life emerges. Only through the continual return of life and death does time begin to move again. Transformation itself, rather than permanence, is revealed as the true nature of the Aeon.

What never changes cannot remain beautiful. Beauty unfolds through transformation, and it is within movement, uncertainty, and continual becoming that existence is affirmed. We exist because we question, because we doubt, because we are capable of change.

To become anything.
To become whatever we may.
To become without the obligation to become at all.

Rather than choosing an endless life that never alters, we choose a life that can transform.

Now is the moment to break free from the illusion of eternity and step into an Aeon of your own making. Perhaps what we need is not everlasting permanence, but the courage to encounter the vibration of change itself.
