오래된 주택을 고쳐 갤러리로 탈바꿈 시킨 공간으로
그 이름처럼 공공으로 열려있으며 성별, 국적을 초월하여
끝없이 스파크가 튀는 공간을 꿈꿉니다.
또한 공간은 젊은 예술가들을 지원하며 지역 주민들의 쉼터가 되는 시설의 역할을 자처합니다.
멀리서 온 관광객들, 마을에 사는 주민들,
누구든 편하게 들어와 전시를 보면서, 또 마당을 거닐면서
예기치 못한 기쁨과 편안함을 누리길 바랍니다.

Like its name, it is open to the public and dreams of an endlessly sparky space across gender and nationality.
The space also supports young artists and serves as a shelter for local residents.

전시《취향 척화비》는 흔들리는 시대 속에서 각자가 붙들고 있는 취향의 방어선을 살펴봅니다. 오늘날 우리는 쉽게 자신의 ‘취향‘을 말하지만, 그 취향은 사회적 시선과 소비의 흐름을 오가며 끊임없이 흔들립니다. 그럼에도 취향은 여전히 자아를 구성하는 중요한 핵심 요소로 남아 있습니다.
이번 전시는 서로 다른 세 작가가 각자의 방식으로 구축한 ‘취향 척화비’를 따라갑니다. 오랜 시간 축적된 이미지를 모아 자신의 감각을 응축해 보여주는 사진 작업, 원시적 감각의 잔존을 증명하는 오브제, 80년대 아이돌 문화가 현대인의 취향 속에서 다시 살아나는 과정을 탐구하는 작업까지. 각자의 취향은 독립적이지만, 모두가 외부의 영향 속에서 자신을 지키기 위해 세운 작고 견고한 비석과도 같습니다.
전시《취향 척화비》를 통해 관객 역시 자신의 취향이 어떤 세계를 바라보고, 어떤 방식으로 자신을 지탱하고 있는지를 다시 생각해 볼 수 있기를 바랍니다. 이는 취향을 둘러싼 소모적 소비에서 벗어나, 나를 이루는 감각의 자리를 조용히 되짚어보게 하는 시간이 될 것입니다.

The exhibition Taste Stele examines the lines of defense each of us constructs around our tastes in an era of constant instability. Today, we speak easily of our “tastes,” yet these preferences continuously waver as they move between social gazes and the currents of consumption. Even so, taste remains a vital core element that shapes one’s sense of self.
This exhibition follows the distinct “taste steles” built by three artists, each in their own way. From photographic works that condense personal sensibilities through the long-term accumulation of images, to objects that attest to the persistence of primordial sensations, and to works that explore how 1980s idol culture is revived within contemporary taste—each artist’s taste is independent, yet all function like small but solid monuments erected to protect the self amid external influences.
Through Taste Stele, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the world their own tastes perceive and the ways in which those tastes sustain them. It is hoped that this exhibition offers a moment to step away from the consumptive cycles surrounding taste, and instead quietly reconsider the place of sensibility that constitutes who we are.
